Daily Bulletin #4 Thursday, July 30, 2009
Today’s Bell Schedule continues through the week the same as follows:
STUDENT SECTION
SCHOOL WISDOM OF THE DAY: Unless instructed otherwise, while taking a test, always guess an answer rather than leaving it blank. Of course, if you have to guess all the answers, something is wrong…really wrong. (Radford)
ANY FRESHMEN OR SOPHOMORE: girls interested in playing tennis, please see coach Gentry in Room 1520 or at the tennis courts after-school @ 3:00 pm. (Gentry)
ATTENTION LANCERS: we are forming a new club on campus and all students are welcome to join. The CSC Club or Community Service Club will be for all students who are looking for opportunities to earn community service through various projects around campus here at Hilltop as well as throughout our local community. This is a great opportunity to help your campus in our beautification attempts as well as earn community service hour credits. There will be a sign up list posted outside room 814 and stayed tuned for more information in the upcoming weeks.
COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS: Do you need them???? Here is a fun opportunity to earn some hours. St. Rose of Lima Parish is having their Rose Festival, on August 28th - August 30, 2009. They need help with set-up and clean-up, manning the video games booths, carnival games and other miscellaneous jobs. In the Game Zone, they need help on Friday from 1:00 to 11:00 pm. Saturday from 3:00 - 11:00 pm and Sunday from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm. See Ms. Hitchcock, in the Counseling Center for the flyer. (Hitchcock)
ATTENTION LANCERS: All lancers interested in joining boy’s water polo, you are encouraged to stop by room 814 and speak with coach Salts or stop by the gym at 3:00 pm after school, Tuesday or Wednesday this week. You may also stop by after school in Room 814 on Thursday and Friday. GO LANCERS!!! (Salts)
LANCERS: This Saturday, August 1, from 9am - 10am, physicals will be given at Olympian HS. Cost $20 (cash), with $10 going back to Hilltop Athletics. FALL, WINTER, AND SPRING athletes are encouraged to get there physicals now. Permission slips may be picked up at the ASB. Thanks! (Acerrio)
ATTENTION LANCERS: We are Boosting our School Spirit by bringing back the PEP Club and The Hooligans. These two clubs have been very successful in the past at raising school spirit both on campus and at various events. The combination of the two clubs brings the unique ability for all students to get involved no matter how mild or crazy (within limits) your school spirit can get. Members of the PEP Club and Hooligans will be involved in Pep Assemblies and Sporting Events. Members of this club will be responsible for improving school spirit through various activities. One distinct advantage of becoming a member of the PEP Club and the Hooligans is free admission to all sporting events we attend. Pay attention for more information to follow. (Salts)
ATTENTION LANCERS: Are you interested in the environment and conservation? Come join the Ecology club WEDNESDAY, August 5th in Room 1401. Bring your lunch! (McSwain)
GIRLS GOLFER’S: or girls that want to be on the golf team. We will have a meeting today, Thursday, July 30th, in Room 1406 during lunch. Please get there as quick as possible. (Gritts)
FACULTY
PLC TIDBIT OF THE DAY: Definition of “action orientation”. A predisposition to learn by doing; moving quickly to turn aspirations into actions and visions into realities. Members of PLCs understand that the most powerful learning always occurs in a context of taking actions, and they value engagement and reflective experience as the most effective teachers. (Radford)
STAFF: Please be sure and register on-line for your pay stub. People with direct deposit will not be receiving a hard copy of their pay stub on payday. Please see Ms. Wilkerson if you need a copy of the registration directions. (Wilkerson)
FACULTY & STAFF: “We’re starting up LANCER OF THE DAY awards next week. I’ll be putting a few blank nomination forms in everyone’s boxes soon, and I’ll leave a stack in the front office.” (Hirakawa)
