STUDENT SECTION

SCHOOL WISDOM OF THE DAY: If you form a study group, you will often do better on a test…that is if you use your friends before, not during, the test. (Radford)

STUDENTS: Health office will close at 12:30 pm today, Thursday, August 6th, due to the district nurse’s meeting. Only emergencies to the main office. (Nurse Matheny)

THE GAY-STRAIGHT ALLIANCE: will be holding its first club meeting tomorrow, Friday, August 7th. All students are welcome! See Ms. Olsen in Room 404 for more information. (Olsen)

GIRL LANCERS: interested in the golf team, we will have a short meeting at lunch today, Thursday, in room 1406. Bring a friend. (Gritts)

SPECIAL AAA MEETING: to coordinate cupcake sales for Open House. We need underclassmen to join so be there for this great club that raises money for orphans in Africa because their parents died of AIDS. We send over $1000 a year to Alicia Keys' Foundation Keep a Child Alive. Join us!

FRESHMEN: If you are interested in becoming a member of the Principal’s Round Table, please see Mrs. Ocampo in the main office to pick up an application. First meeting will be on Wednesday, August 26th, 4h period. (Ocampo)

SENIORS: Jostens will be on campus today, and tomorrow, to take ring orders. If you order a ring on Thursday or Friday, you will get your cap and gown for free. See the brochure for ring payment options. (P. Gutierrez)

COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS: Students, if you have completed community service hours prior to this school year, you must complete the community service forms by August 30th to get credit for those hours. Community Service Hours will only receive credit for the year they are completed from now on. The Calendar will run from August, 2009 to July, 2010 of that school year. Forms are to be given to your Social Science teacher. Forms can be found online on the Community Service link. Any questions see Mrs. Gutierrez in room 1511.

ANY FRESHMEN OR SOPHOMORE: girls interested in playing tennis, please see Coach Gentry in Room 1520 or at the tennis courts after-school @ 3:00 pm. (Gentry)

ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS: California Scholarship Federation (CSF) Applications are available in the Counseling Center. You must turn in an application by Friday, August 14th. (Olsen)











COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS: Do you need them???? Here is a fun opportunity to earn some hours. St. Rose of Lima Parish is having their Rose Festival, on August 28th - August 30, 2009. They need help with set-up and clean-up, manning the video games booths, carnival games and other miscellaneous jobs. In the Game Zone, they need help on Friday from 1:00 to 11:00 pm. Saturday from 3:00 - 11:00 pm and Sunday from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm. See Ms. Hitchcock, in the Counseling Center for the flyer. (Hitchcock)


FACULTY

PLC TIDBIT OF THE DAY: In addition to determining directions for specific classroom situations (lecture, seatwork, etc.) make sure that you have established procedures for sharpening pencils, dismissal, use of classroom books and taking out materials. (Radford)

FACULTY: Please note that our Open House will be on Tuesday, August 11 at 6:00pm. This will be a regular school day schedule. The minimum day that normally follows an Open House will still be in the middle of October, on the date of PSAT testing. The testing date this year is Wednesday, October 14, which is listed as a minimum day on the HTH Calendar. Please let me know if you have any questions. (Mendez)
