STUDENTS OF ALL GRADES: We are re-soliciting students for the Principal’s Round Table. If you are interested in becoming a member, please see Mrs. Ocampo in the main office to pick up an application. Applications are due by Friday, November 6th and our next meeting will be on Tuesday, November 24th in the library during 4th period. (Ocampo)
STUDENTS: College bound seniors must apply to CSU’s & UC’s during October and November. During these months, we will proudly announce some of Hilltop’s finest college graduates! Today’s “Staff Spotlight” is Ms. Fericelli attended the University of California San Diego. In order to be successful in college, Mr. Fericelli advises students to make studying an everyday habit to develop discipline and read, a lot! Her most memorable experience from college was when she started her internship at University City High School and taught AP Lit. (Di Stefano)
ATTENTION ALL LANCERS: The Boy’s water polo team will be playing today in a in key match for the league banner vs Mar Vista at Parkway Pool at 3:00pm. We want to pack the Deck with Lancers and make the place loud and proud. Come out today and watch our Lancers take on mar Vista at Parkway Pool. Novice starts at 2:30pm, Varsity follows at 3:00pm and JV plays after the Varsity match around 4:00pm. (Salts)
LANCER ATHLETES: Winter sport clearance begins on Wednesday, November 4th. Please check the schedule at the ASB to see what day your sport clears on. Remember to have all information and signatures completed before your turn in your packet. Don’t forget library clearance! (Kracha)

MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL PAINTING CONTEST: Day of the Dead Celebration! On Sunday, November 1st, 2009 at Northgate Gonzalez Market at 1058 3rd Avenue in Chula Vista. Hosted by the Family Resource Centers. For more information go to www.chulavistacc.org
SENIORS: Sign Up for the Senior-staff dodge ball game in the ASB before the end of lunch on Monday, November 2nd. The cost is $5.00 for your shirt and you must have at least a 2.0 GPA with no Saturday Schools. The teachers are scheduled to defeat you on Wednesday, November 4th after school. Don’t miss it! JUNIORS AND SENIORS OF ASIAN PACIFIC DESCENT: Great opportunity. There is a conference in March in Sacramento that is fully paid for. The conference offers group workshops on leadership development, cultural identity and awareness, the legislative process, and public speaking. SENIORS: The Elks National Foundation Scholarship is due by Friday morning to Ms. Gerlack. This is a great scholarship. Don’t miss out on this one. (Gerlack)
SENIORS: The Hispanic Heritage Foundation offers a $1000 scholarship with a grand prize of $10,000. It is a short essay on “How do you think education can impact the Heritage of Hispanic generations to come?” Due November 30th. (Gerlack)
SENIORS: The Gates Millennium Scholarship is in and it is a must. If you receive this one, you get a full ride for at least 4 years to the college that you applied and are accepted to. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.3. Must have financial need and must be of minority descent. The application is in the Counseling Center or go on line at www.gmsp.org (Gerlack)
LACROSSE: JV and first year Lacrosse players are reminded to turn in their uniform deposits if they wish to purchase a new uniform today, Friday to Coach Bishop in Room 1508. (Bishop)
ATTENTION ALL PEP CLUB AND HOOLIGANS: we will start having weekly meetings at Lunch in the Gymnasium on Thursdays. These will only last 5 – 10 minutes at the beginning of lunch but are very important in planning for our events. Again, we will meet every Thursday in the Gymnasium at the beginning of lunch. (Salts)
THE COMMUNITY SERVICE CLUB: is receiving new volunteer opportunities each week and are posting these on the window outside Room 814. Stop by and sign up for volunteer hours. (Salts)
ALL LANCER BOYS: interested in playing soccer this year must have a completed clearance packet turned into the ASB and a Team Guidelines Packet filled out by the time of tryouts on Saturday, November 14th in order to participate this season. PLC TIDBIT OF THE DAY: Having high expectations is having the confident belief that all students can attain mastery of the essential learning and that the staff has the capability to help all students achieve that mastery. High expectations for success will be judged, not only by the initial staff beliefs and behavior, but also by the organization’s response when some students do not learn. (Radford)
TEACHERS: Scholastic Scope magazines were placed in my mailbox. Did anyone order them as a class set or if you would like to use them in your classroom, please let me know. (Ms. R.)
FLU SHOTS: Wednesday, November 4th, 3:30 – 5:30 at Rancho Del Rey Cultural Arts Center. Shots are for employees only and will be for the seasonal flu. Please contact your primary care physician for Swine Flu information. Please wear short sleeved shirts or blouses on the day you are planning to get your shot. Pneumonia shots will be offered for $50.00.
