STUDENT SECTION

SCHOOL WISDOM OF THE DAY: Even BIG problems in school can be chipped down to manageable size, one chip at a time. (Radford)

STUDENTS: College bound seniors must apply to CSU’s & UC’s during October and November. During these months, we will proudly announce some of Hilltop’s finest college graduates! Today’s “Staff Spotlight” is Mr. Hirakawa. Mr. Hirakawa attended UC San Diego and majored in Psychology. What he liked the least about UCSD was that they did not have a football team. (He really wanted to try out for the team). In order to be successful in college, Mr. Hirakawa advises students to learn how to use a laundry machine. He can’t remember what this most memorable experience form college was, but we are sure most of his professors still remember him. (Di Stefano)

COMMUNITY SERVICE: This Sunday November 8th at UCSD, there is a walk to cure diabetes. They need volunteers for clean up, food booth, t-shirt booth, etc. They need 40 plus volunteers. Get a group of you and go up for the morning. Contact: arodriguez@jdrf.org or kristenann23@mail.com (Gerlack)

STUDENTS: This summer, Sweetwater Union High School District is offering its annual Historically Black College and University Tour. You will visit Howard University, Morehouse College, Spellman College and many more. It does cost a bit ($1800). See Ms. Gerlack in the counseling Center for an application. (Gerlack)

STUDENTS: The Lancer Biological Society will be having a meeting today at lunch in Room 503. (Woodard)

LANCERS: Anyone interested in trying out for the roller hockey team needs to attend a very informative meeting today at 1:00pm in the gym. Thank you. (Acerrio)

“ATTENTION ALL LANCERS”: The African American Student Union is having their next meeting tomorrow, Thursday, November 5th during lunch in Room 1402! We welcome any and al students to come join and see what our club is all about! If you have any questions, see Ms. Scott in Room 1402! (Scott)

PE PACKETS: Students were asked to print their PE packets at home. The library has been running an excessive number of packets and will need to start charging 10 cents per sheet to copy the packet. Be responsible and print your packet at home. (Ms. R.)

SENIORS: We are selling Hot Cocoa before school. We are selling Entertainment Books and are looking into selling them at games this week. We are also arranging the sales for Atlantis Laser Tag. We need you to come to an informational meeting in Room 1511 at lunch time today, Wednesday, November 4th, and every week to discuss these and other fundraisers. Reduce your prom tickets, come to the meetings. (Gutierrez)

LANCER ATHLETES: Winter sport clearance begins today, Wednesday, November 4th. Please check the schedule at the ASB to see what day your sport clears on. Remember to have all information and signatures completed before your turn in your packet. Don’t forget library clearance! (Kracha)

LANCERS: Please stop by the ASB if you are interested in an application for Senate this year. Elections will be held on November 16th and 17th. (Kracha)
