District Video List

The District Approved Video List was compiled by
a committee of SUHSD educators from submissions from teachers in the district.
The committee reconvenes to review additional titles each spring.
To submit a title for consideration, obtain a copy of the Teacher Request
for Review of Supplementary Materials Form (see Faculty Handbook or contact
the curriculum office. Submit the form to the Principal and Curriculum
Office by the end of April.

Videos used in Sweetwater classroms must be directly linked to a lesson
plan that is aligned with district course descriptions.

NON-RATED, NON-COMMERCIAL videos, by PBS, National Geographic, or other
educational providers, may be used if they meet this standard.

Any commercial video with a rating (such as those from a video rental store)
must appear in the District Approved Video List to be considered for classroom
viewing and may only be used in the course listed.

The following guidelines also apply:

In middle schools, films rated "G" and marked with an "X" in the column
for Grades 7 or 8 may be shown in the course indicated. With the
principal's approval, "PG" and "PG-13" movies marked with an "X" may be
shown when a written parent consent form is obtained before the
viewing. Students who do not return the authorization form need to be provided
an alternate lesson. "PG" and "PG-13" movies not on the list may not be
shown. No "R" rated video is authorized for middle schools.

In high schools, "G", "PG", and "PG-13" movies may be shown when appropriate
for the course of study. With the principal's approval, R-rated movies
from this list may be shown when a written
parent consent form is obtained prior to viewing. Students who
do not return the authorization need to be provided with an alternate lesson."R"
movies not on the list may not be shown.
